This is part 5 of a series of videos from a documentary called the History of Oil. Be sure and watch from the beginning, part 1 of this series.
Keywords: Oil, Gas Shortage of the 1970s, 1980s, 70s, 80s, Oil Exploration Technology, Gas Prices, Oil Price, Oil Companies, Saidi Arabia, Iraq invasion of Kuwait, Imported Oil, War, Wars, United States dependence on foreign oil, President George Bush Sr.
When a country with lots of military power starts to lose acess to its supply of energy (via fossil fuels, which also support the production of food) the immediate response is to take a military action. World war 3 is right around the corner. If you disagree, than you are blind to reason and logic. Just look at what is taking place amongst the Arab nations right now and how closely tied into it the US and Russia are. Meanwhile, China sits back and watches. Similiar to how US acted in WW1 and 2.

Rockefeller might have used some of his fortune to buy himself some lips.

There is an old saying,THE RICH GET RICHER AND THE POOR GET POORER,now Americans are all losing their Jobs and homes and going into poverty at a very fast pace, and the Muslims are owning all the Oil and the Banks and Have all the Money,Sad but true,WAKE UP AMERICA,I OWE, I OWE, I OWE, SO OFF TO WORK I GO,GET OUT OF DEBT.BE THE HEAD,NOT THE TAIL.

Thanks for sharing. I knew Standard Oil was once huge, but didn't know detail. Glad I kept mineral rights of my own because now they are desperate enough to drill under existing towns.

Not really a comprehensive history of oil in general. Not comprehensive history of oil in the USA in particular. Only a brief mention of OK No mention of the oil production in KS CA MT AL Anyway thanks for capturing & posting. John Wayne & Jimmy Stewart oil company Shenandoah My dad would come home & say he worked John Wayne that day. By the time I worked on those wells another company owned them.
